Our first product is a revolutionary bluetooth speaker made from plastic trash that would otherwise end up in landfills or the oceans. 
We are based in Brighton, UK and are working towards preventing plastic waste ending up in landfill sites or being incinerated.

Every year the world throws aways 150 billion kilos of flexible plastic waste - such as plastic bags, bubble wrap, food wrapping and pallet wrapping. It’s currently not recycled, but burned worldwide, releasing poisonous toxins into the air. We hope to make an impact by repurposing the plastic waste into a more valuable cherished material.

Every piece we make is completely unique, with its own individual marble pattern. We can work with brands to make specific colour patterns to suit an existing product collection or create your own original colour range.

Everything started with a backpacking-trip in Colorado. In the middle of the Roosevelt National Forest, we met Bill. He was a real Mountain States original and entertained us with stories of his adventures in the wild. His zest for life was equally contagious and inspiring and his love for the forests, rivers and mountains seemed boundless. We were on fire: Bill's connection to nature and its beauty made us realise, that being able to see the world through his eyes was a gift, a gift that everyone should be able to experience.

Bill left us with the question why a connection to nature and ecological awareness is continually getting lost. Why do we produce less natural, honest products? It was time for a change! We wanted to bring back the passion for and dedication to handmade and unique pieces to give everyone a personal piece of nature in our fast-paced society.

We, Sebastian & Sebastian, were two students for economics with no design skills, no IT skills and no craftwork skills. In short: not qualified at all for what we were attempting to do. Still we decided to take the risk and put all of our energy and love into this project. We wanted to create fair, nature-based products; products, that bloom with individuality in everyday usage and turn into indispensable and loved companions. Woodcessories was born!

In 2013 we started to create high-end charging docks made out of recycled ship wood and stunned the market with our first wooden innovation. It was an immediate hit and we realised quickly just how big the potential for sustainable Apple & Samsung pieces really was and we were convinced that our passion for nature would help us create even more individual accessories based on purely natural materials.

Antstand is designed to prevent neck and shoulder pain caused by prolonged laptop use. The minimal and unique design creates a sturdy support to raise the screen 8 inches and when flat packed it’s slim enough to fit inside the laptop sleeve.

Nimble - Sustainable materials

Couple of years ago Daniele and I (Clemens) meet at a local bar in our home town Graz, Austria. I noticed him because he was also drinking pina colada, a drink usually only girls would buy. I told him that and quickly after that we got into a pretty interesting conversation finding out we also share a passion for veganism and fair fashion.

Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Couple of days later we grabbed another drink or two (can’t remember exactly) and talked more about the fashion, especially leather industry and much potential for change it has.Starting as a joke Daniele suggested we should start our own premium watch label with eco friendly vegan straps. We laughed and continued the conversation.

DAN & MÉZ is based on strong values when it comes to ethics and sustainability. Our whole philosophy is to make a positive impact in the world. That means certain standards not only have to be to be met but also continuously challenged and improved to do so. Just because one meets certain criteria in order to obtain certain labels does not mean one is perfect. Those are just the bare minimum requirements one has to meet. There is also room for improvement and this is what we strive for.

Although we are confident about the status quo and everything we offer we are still working on new ways to improve our company and raise overall standards in the industry. Specifically when it comes to the materials we use, the way we assemble them as well as the overall impact we have on the planet. With that being said let us show what we do right now in order to do so.

Our watches are made in Germany because it is one of countries with the highest standards and conditions for employees. Every one gets paid a fair wage, has insurance and many rights to ensure overall great working conditions.

The watches are manufactured by our partner Malchert in Quedlinburg, Germany. A small manufacturing facility with tradition, passion and premium quality. We are very proud of our german craftsmanship.  

The straps by Rios, a company with over 80 years of experience. They are currently based in Augsburg, Germany.

100% Vegan Leather
Obviously products based on animals are neither ethical nor sustainable. We decided right away from the beginning that our whole company and all the products are going to be vegan. 

Currently we use Pinatex a leather based on recycled pineapple leaves for our watches. This benefits not only the animals but also the planet as well as local communities in the Philippines. Currently we are working on further alternatives including leather based on mushroom, grapes / wine, cork,  kombucha (yes kombucha) and wood.

Recycled Packaging
Although watches fortunately do not require much packaging we obviously decided not to use plastic. The boxes are made from cardboard and get shipped in climate neutral paper packages. 

Many people underestimate how much impact the packaging itself has on the environment, especially if it is not reused!

Currently we are working on more exclusive wooden cases that look even nice and are meant to keep a lifetime.
